Medical Marijuana Supporters Hold Statehouse Rally

The push to make medical marijuana legal in Ohio continues with a rally at the Statehouse Wednesday.

House Bill 478 would legalize the use of physician-supervised medical marijuana.

The bill requires a patient to visit a doctor, obtain a signed letter, apply and pay a fee to receive a registry identification card to take part in the program.

The bill includes a list of diseases and disorders that would be eligible for use.

In 2009, an Institute for Policy Research Ohio poll found that 73 percent of Ohio voters favored allowing doctors to prescribe medical marijuana, with 27 percent opposing such a law.

If passed, Ohio would be the 15th state in the country to allow the use of medical marijuana.
