People in South Vancouver will now be able to buy medical marijuana legally at a new dispensary at Fraser and 45th Ave. Surprisingly, people in the neighbourhood are quite supportive of the initiative.
Jacob Hunter is the director of the new dispensary and says in Canada, access to medical marijuana by people who require it is a constitutional right. He says while illegal reselling is always a concern, there are strict rules on who they can sell to. "We make all of our members sign a code of conduct that very expressly forbids any reselling or sharing of any medicine they purchase from us."
Hunter adds it's not just their members who give them their support. "People would come in and just say, you know, 'Medical marijuana saved a loved one of mine. Medical marijuana really helped a loved one of mine. I really like what you guys are doing.'"
This is the sixth pot dispensary to open in Vancouver.
