A woman who gave her teenage son cannabis oil for seizures and chronic pain has been offered a deal allowing her to avoid going to trial.

Angela Brown says she accepted the agreement between her attorney and the county prosecutor. She tells the Star Tribune that a child endangerment charge against her will be dropped so long as she pays a $100 court fee and goes 90 days without repeating the offense.

Brown, of Madison, was facing up to a year in prison and a $3,000 fine if convicted.

She has said her 15-year-old son improved dramatically after he was given cannabis oil for ailments stemming from a brain injury three years ago.

The family bought the oil legally in Colorado, but medical marijuana doesn't become legal in Minnesota until this July.
