Two Missouri men posted 10-percent of a $50,000 bond after being arrested with 4.2 pounds of marijuana Jan. 14.

David T, 21, from Chesterfield Mo., and Shane Byrom, 20, from Columbia Mo., were each charged with possession with intent to deliver marijuana and possession of firearms in the commission of a felony. Both men could face a maximum 70-years imprisonment if convicted of the crimes.

The men were stopped for speeding in a 2004 Volkswagen Jetta eastbound on Interstate 80 about 17 miles west of North Platte. A Nebraska State Patrol trooper stopped them at 2 p.m. on Jan. 14.

The trooper reported a strong scent of marijuana coming from the vehicle and conducted a probable cause search, according to an NSP spokesman.

The trooper discovered the marijuana hidden throughout the trunk in various locations, according to the spokesman. He also discovered two loaded handguns concealed in the car but accessible by both men, the spokesman said.

Both men posted bond and were scheduled to be arraigned in Lincoln County Court Feb. 21.
