Mold or Mildew?!

is it fuzzy powdery or sand crystal powdery?

fuzzy powdery = probably mold/fungus---- distiled water & peroxide
possibly might clear it up

commercial agriculture fungicides

let your dirt dry out

sand crystal powdery -- possible excesss fert. salts build up

scrape off top 1/4 -1/2 inch dirt add fresh dirt and loosen
dirt up aerate with a shish kabob skewer than leach/ flush with
distilled water by watering till the pot is steadily draining and wet so that adding a cup of water to the saturated soil has close to a cup draing out almost immeadiately

if this fixes it cut back on feeding solution strength

commercial fungicides for food crops
peroxide and water might work

could be excess fertilizer salts build up and not mold
sort of like fine sand and crystally ?
flush or leach out pot with lots of water after removing top 1/2 inch of dirt and replacing w/ new

Sounds like mold, and if mold is forming you need to improve you soil drainage and air flow. Also, maybe a sign of frequent overwatering. :peace:

I'm not exactly sure how to upload photos on to the forum. I think it looks more sandy, white with a little light brown on top of it....

Remove as much as visibly possible and an then water in with a water/ peroxide mix 2/3 water 1/3 peroxide. Water in just the top inch or so. Then wait for results before re-applying .Over all water less and use more soil amendment such as perlite in the future. Bron

DO NOT USE 1 PART PEROXIDE TO 2 PARTS WATER. That strength will destroy the feeder roots causing lock out and will kill the plant.

What your describing sounds more like a nutrient salt build up to me. A good flush would cure that. if mold, Cover the top of the container so that the soil still breathes but light is blocked to keep mold from growing on your soil surface.
