Montana Medical Marijuana Patients Top 10,000

Yesterday the Montana Department of Public Health and Human Services (DPHHS) published (PDF) its latest tally of medical marijuana patients and caregivers in the state. There are now 10,582 patients, about 3,000 of whom were added to the rolls in January and February.

Some more numbers:

-There are 2,635 caregivers in the state.

-Missoula County is home to 1,486 patients (second only to Gallatin County, which has 1,667) and 363 caregivers (which ranks third behind Gallatin and Flathead counties).

-5,993 of the 10,582 patients suffer from severe or chronic pain, the most common condition.

-24.9 percent of patients are between 21-30 years old.

-2 patients are over 90.

-97 caregivers supply 20 patients or more.

-13 physicians have recommended medical marijuana to more than 100 patients.
