An increase in crime may lead to stricter regulations on how medical marijuana dispensaries do business in Santa Barbara.

Tomorrow, the city's ordinance committee will consider suspending future medical marijuana dispensaries from opening within the city and putting restrictions on those that already exist.

"There is enough to make us concerned, and that is that there have been some thefts, and some burglaries, and we've had some nuisance complaints, and more calls for service from the Police departments. You can imagine that would be cause for concern from the neighbors in the area," said Grant House, City Council Member.

Last month two men armed with guns robbed a dispensary on west Mission Street.

There are ten dispensaries currently operating in Santa Barbara.

The city council expects to take a vote on the issue in about a month.

armed robbery is not med pot fault but didn.t banks have a guard with a gun visible back before all the security cameras just common sense to have more detterence [sp] visible on the street
to discourage the violent criminals from an opportune target with lots of cash and a product with a high cash value on the street...
