I was wondering if I could grow indoors without having to use my hids?? Because my house just runs on all electric

You can use flourescent bulbs too and the light ballast for those are cheap and easy to get.

Would be possible to harness the light of the sun indoors without using electricity? Like having some kind of magnifying glass from window bent to refract light back into a finite area inside the house sufficient enough to grow big buds?

Cut a hole in the roof and create an atrium. Or build a giant rotating turntable under your house so the sun always shines in the same window.
I'll come up with some more ideas later, after I've smoked a bit.
Oh, and a magnifying glass would probably set your house on fire. Try a mirror, instead.
