Electric bill for indoor closets with 1000 watts and all the rest.

Hi to all indoor growers, anyone want to answer the question of how much does it cost to run a grow room or closet. Just an estimate would do. If you live in Hawaii that would be really a big help. With all the exhaust out put and intake, fans lights anything that runs on electricity. I want to grow indoors but it scares me. I know it is a vague question because it depends on other things so a rough estimate will do. Thank you.

Wouldn't put a 1000W system in a closet unless you want to be considering the rebuilding your house bill.

Find out your price for a KWH

then take your light, fan, and anything else you are running, and add them together.

lets say....

1000 watt light
100 watt fan
20 watt hydro pump (maybe? who knows? this is all up to you)

for ease of example ill just say 1000 light and 100 fan.

fan should run all the time. and your light will be on either 12/12 or 18/6 most likely.

so lets go for 18/6 first.

1000(light) * 18 hours on. 18kwh in a day
100(fan) * 24 hours on 2.4kw/h in a day.

18+2.4 = 20.4kw/h per day.

lets say a kw in your area is 10 cents.

20.4 * 0.10 = $2.04 per day.

2.04 * 365 = $744.60 per year.

$744.60 / 12 = 62.05$ per month.

so for veg, we are looking at about $60 a month.

now flower

1000 * 12 = 12 kwh/day
100 * 24 = 2.4kwh/day

14.4 kwh per day

14.4 * 0.10 = $1.44 per day

$1.44 * 365 = $525.60 per year

/12 = $43.80 per month


so now we have $ about $60 a month for veg, and $45 a month for flower.

if you were to veg for a month, and flower for 2 months, under a 1000 watter. you would have about $150 invested into electricity, and a potential of 1.5-2 pounds of great homegrown for yourself.

if course there are millions of factors to that statement. and may or may not be accurate at all in the end. but. either way. its just an example.

myself, i have no need for that much.. and i keep it under 400 watts, and its still plenty. Not to mention, dpending on your closet, 400 might be the most you want to go.
