NJ - Pitman bust snags $50,000 in marijuana

Pitman - Local authorities charged two suspects and seized $50,000 worth of marijuana in a raid of an Arbutus Avenue residence on Tuesday.

In a cooperative effort with the Mantua Township police department and United States postal inspectors, Pitman police executed a search warrant at the residence at 2:15 p.m. Tuesday.

Police seized approximately 15 pounds of marijuana and drug paraphernalia used for distribution purposes.

Adrian N. Jennings, 26, of Camden and 23-year-old Laura M. Ruggeri of Pitman were arrested at the scene and later charged.

Both were charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance with intent to distribute, possession of a CDS within 1,000 feet of a school, possession of marijuana over 50 grams within 1,000 feet of a school, and conspiracy to distribute CDS. They were lodged in Gloucester County Jail in default of $50,000 cash bail set by Judge J. R. Powell.

Additional charges may be pending on three other suspects at the residence during the time of the raid.

Police were assisted by Gloucester County SWAT, Gloucester County Prosecutor's Office ID Unit and the Mantua Township K-9 Unit. The case agents were Pitman Police Department's Investigator Gregory W. Owens and Mantua Township Police Department's Det. Berton G. Brucker II.
