TROY, Mich. (AP) -- A bust by the Oakland County sheriff's department netted 750 pounds of marijuana worth about $2.4 million.

Carl Viola, 53, of Thomasburg, Ontario, was arraigned Friday for possession and attempting to deliver more than 45 kilograms of marijuana, a 15-year felony. He was being held in the Oakland County Jail on $75,000 bond.

A 44-year-old man from New York City was being held pending arraignment, The Daily Oakland Press and the Detroit Free Press reported.

The sheriff's narcotic enforcement team said it watched the men meet Thursday afternoon. After the men walked to a tractor-trailer and pulled two duffel bags from the vehicle, investigators approached with a drug-sniffing dog.

Police say the truck, driven by Viola, entered the United States from Canada via the Blue Water Bridge in Port Huron. The truck, which officials say is owned by Viola, was carrying a load of automotive parts.
