A 52-year-old California man is facing charges after State Highway Patrol troopers recovered 143 pounds of marijuana and 300 grams of hashish, according to a news release from the Highway Patrol.

Leo Charkins is charged in the incident that happened during a traffic stop Wednesday on the Ohio Turnpike in Boston Heights, the release says. The marijuana and hashish are valued at approximately $333,905, authorities said.

Troopers stopped a 2017 Kia Sportage with Florida registration for a marked lanes violation, according to the release.

Troopers frisked the man and he removed a pill bottle of marijuana from his pocket, the release says.

A probable cause search of the SUV found 18 5-gallon buckets containing the contraband, authorities said.

Charkin was taken to Summit County Jail and charged with possession and trafficking in marijuana, according to the release.
