PhilDG's Breeding Spacebox's & DWC

Hi all. Am going to post the grow aspects on my current journal, but the DIY stuff here.

Wanted to try a small hydro grow under a "600W" 2 COB LED. Have avoided hydro so far but like to tinker and will give it a go.

Read up on the Hempy Bucket thing, germinating straight into "Hempy Cups" and some on DWC and have found the Spacebox i had pretty useful so, this it what i have come up with.

Have 2 x 250mm diameter pots, plastic flyscreen lined in the bottoms, filled with perlite.
Base is a nally bin with a tap in the bottom.
Have cut holes in a nally bin lid that the pots sit in and should keep the bottom tank / root zone nice and dark.
Have a 50mm PVC inspection and sampling port in the lid.
Have a large aquarium pump feeding 4 air-stones in the tank for aeration / mixing.
Holes cut so the top part of the Spacebox doesn't crush the air lines.

Looks good! Just a couple of questions, tips...

How many gallons does that res hold and are you planning on growing all six plants in there, or only two at-a-time? Same question on the hempy buckets.

Also, if you're planning on using the vinegar to adjust PH, I'd HIGHLY recommend you just get some PH-down. The vinegar does work to lower PH, but the acetic acid breaks down quickly and you have to constantly add more. The PH down powder (cheaper than the solution!) is food grade phosphoric acid which is much more stable.

Have the res filled with about 20l to get the level i want.

This grow i will grow out all 6 if they all germinate. Will top once and spread using a bit of LST, but wont spend much time in veg. The disadvantage of the Spacebox approach is little in the way of headroom. Ok for me as my variety seems to go low and bushy.

Will play with this. Its really a test run for the DWC setup and if it works out i'll set up two tanks same same but in my 1.2m x 1.2m tent. For that i would plan on only doing 4 plants, 1 per 250mm pot, top twice and spend more time in veg to LST them.

Mod to the DWC Spacebox . Put a small pond pump in the tank that pumps up into a blanked off 13mm poly pipe. Have 4 x 4mm lines to drippers, 1 on each plant.

That pump runs for half an hour every 3 hours. Low pressure pump so unscrewed the caps off the drippers to get a good flow. I think this will be important until the root system develops and with the airstones in the tank should keep the solution aerated and cycling around. May not be needed once the plants are established.

All good. Removed the pond pump and drippers. Perlite wicking up nicely and the pump is just a complication that in hindsight I dont think is needed. Aeration working well with the 4 bubblers.

They're too young right now to have the drippers running. The roots would be too wet. Once they get some roots, though, the drippers aren't a bad idea, although, not at all required.

Have shifted the DWC unit into my main tent under the HPS now have harvested previous grow.
Got to this stage under an LED. Now under HPS @60% (600W) 22/2. Day 38 since seeds put in for germination.

Cranked the HPS up to 1000W for flowering.
