Police Seize 13,730 Marijuana Plants In Toronto Raid

On Tuesday, November 30, 2010, the Toronto Police Service Drug Squad executed a Controlled Drugs and Substances Act search warrant in an industrial building at 120 Cartwright Avenue.

It is alleged that:

- during the execution of the warrant, a very large and sophisticated soil- based marijuana grow operation was located in a segregated two-storey area of the building,

- the operation included the use of conveyer belts to ease the transport of potted plants from one stage of growth to the next, and a professionally installed commercial grade hydro bypass directly to an exterior transformer,

- a total of 13,730 marijuana plants, along with a quantity of dried Marijuana with a street value of approximately $13.7 million, as well as a large quantity of hydroponic growing equipment.

A man has been taken into custody and is being investigated with regard to this marijuana grow operation.
