A Comox Valley marijuana seed business has been foiled because there wasn't enough postage on the marijuana seed packages for them to reach their destination.
When several Comox Valley residents received envelopes returned to them because of insufficient postage, they were bemused. They had never seen the envelopes before and most had no idea what they contained. One recipient contacted Comox Valley RCMP.
The envelopes contained marijuana seeds, tucked into corrugated plastic cards and wrapped in pieces of carbon paper with a light blue backing which were then enclosed in white paper.
The seeds were being sold through the internet magazine, HighTimes, a site that advertises marijuana seeds with names like BC God Bud ($150 a 20-seed pack).
Comox Valley RCMP linked the seed sale to a previous investigation and, with additional information from the Vandalia Ohio Police Department, located the address of the sender.
When Comox Valley RCMP drug section searched the address on May 26 they found 82,725 marijuana seeds, 1132 plants, 3.9 grams of magic mushrooms, 384 grams marijuana bud and evidence relating to the the advertising and selling of the seeds.
Comox Valley RCMP have arrested Daniel Anthony Kostantin, charging him with production of marijuana, possession for the purpose of trafficking marijuana plants, trafficking marijuana seeds and breach of an undertaking. The RCMP are also recommending charges of possession of marijuana for the purpose of exporting and two charges of trafficking marijuana seeds.
Konstantin's first appearance in court will be on June 22 in Courtenay.
