Richmond Man Arrested for Dealing and Possession of Marijuana

Indiana State Police arrested a Richmond, Indiana man at 3:48 a.m. this morning for dealing, and possession of marijuana.

Trooper Nate Rainey (Pendleton District) was patrolling in the area of South J Street and South 13th Street in Richmond, Indiana and stopped a 1985 Chevrolet pick-up truck for disregarding a stop sign.

Upon speaking to the driver Trooper Rainey detected a strong odor of raw marijuana emitting from the vehicle. Upon further investigation it was determined the driver, Steven L. Carpenter, age 29, * Cart Road Richmond, Indiana was in possession of 126 grams of marijuana, and articles associated with the distribution of marijuana.

Carpenter was arrested and preliminarily charged with:
Possession of marijuana, a class “D” felony
Dealing in marijuana, a class “D” felony

Carpenter was taken to the Wayne County Jail and held on $7,500.00 bond.
