TDS meter calibration help

So i was gifted a cheapo tds meter and it only reads up to 999ppm. I can make it work until i can afford a better one but my question is this... I have calibration solution that is 1500ppms. Can i dilute this in half with RO water to get 750ppm solution or does it not work this way? Ive always just listened to the plants for their nutrient needs before but being new to dwc i wanted something a little more accurate. Anyone know if this is doable? Thanks folks.

There are cheapo ones on amazon that go well over 999. Get the right equipment.

but yes you are correct..sort of.

Measure your dilution water first as it wont be 0. Lets say it is 100..then you have some 3rd grade math to do regarding total concentration from 2 liquids. 1 cup at 1500 plus 1 cup at 100 equals 2 cups at....800?

The same principal is what you use when topping off the res and measuring it as you go...

Thanks. I kinda figured that, just needed a little confirmation. I've been a floral/vegetable gardener for years so i have the hang of plants in general but this inside gardening is all new to me so I'm learning as i go.
