Three men local and federal authorities arrested in connection with what they are calling the biggest drug bust in Lubbock will stay behind bars.
Friday morning, the three made their initial appearance before Federal Magistrate Nancy Koenig. At the arraignment, Judge Koenig said the Attorney General's Office has asked for a continuance. Two of the men will go back for a detention hearing next week, and the third man will go before a judge on December 22nd.
These arrests were part of a months-long sting. The Lubbock County Sheriff's Office worked with five other agencies including the DEA. On Thursday, they confiscated around 900 marijuana plants and found nearly $750,000. Authorities also seized five homes, ten guns, four vehicles and a boat.
According to the indictment, one of the men leased properties at White River Lake in Crosby County to grow the marijuana plants.
Kyle Walker, 34, 27-year-old Shawn McCardell, and 21-year-old Justin Rascher, all face drug related charges.
"This is very high grade marijuana, very very high potency level and so its street value is considerably higher," said Kelly Rowe, Lubbock County Sheriff.
The Sheriff's Office doesn't believe there are any other people involved. If convicted, the three could face from 10 years to life in prison.
