What are these

Anyone seen this kinda bug before? and is it good or bad? and if it's bad how would I get rid of it?

This is the best I could do as far as getting a picture up the photo is good just click the link, I already got in trouble for not posting pictures the right way. I don't need another ass chewing.

that looks like either an unusual breed of ladybird or shield insect... by the looks of it it wont be anything that will harm your plant. Id go as far as to say that its only good mate, insects of that size and shape are generally carnivorous.
If you see any signs of damage on your plant then I am wrong, easily dealt with though id have thought.

there was about 20 of them crawling around, there probably 1/4" to 3/8" long

They look like beetle from the pics. They don't eat plants, only dead animals/bugs. Do you see any bite marks on the plants itself? If no harm on the plants then let them roam around, could benefit the health of your plants being guardians.
