my plant is almost 20 inches tall and in a 5 gallon planter and the roots are starting to show at the bottom.. i keep transplating to bigger pots and a week later the roots will come through the bottom... jus curious is this normal??

How open is the bottom of the container?

If they are coming out the drainage holes than you have some good strong root systems.

its like an ordinary planter you buy its jus a pain in the ass lol every week i go up a size or 2

Let those water roots air prune themselves. a 20inch tall plant should just be getting root bound in a 2 gallon pot. Just because you see a few roots out the drain holes doesn't mean your root bound. The rule of thumb is 1 gallon of soil per foot of plant.
