When to take cutting for clone?

When could I take a cutting for cloning on my very 1st grow. Do I wait til the plant(s) show sex so I'll know that it's a female?

When could I take a cutting for cloning on my very 1st grow. Do I wait til the plant(s) show sex so I'll know that it's a female?

If it were my first grow I would take a clone of of each plant, when they root.. I would then put the donors in bloom and find out sex. If any males show, you can toss them and their clone. Then make the female clones your new mother plants while you continue to bloom the donor moms.
