3rd Try

Got a seed I found started. Nothing special, just want to grow something and expand my experience. As always, trying to keep it compact and short.

5 gallon space bucket setup. Two 1600 lumen 5000k bulbs. I’m growing in a small 1 gallon pot. Store bought potting soil with about 50 percent extra perlite added for better drainage.

She’s about 3 weeks into veg and I’ve done some trimming and started training. I’m going to let her veg for another week or two then flip to 12/12. The first 3 weeks were 24/0 and I’ll do 18/6 for this week before flipping. Fed 1 quart of water with 1/2 tsp FF Grow Big and 1/4 tsp of CalMag each feeding which gives about 10-15 percent runoff.

Fan leaves before I trimmed them were thick, dark green and healthy looking. After this week of veg I’ll flush completely, flip the light schedule, and feed with FF Tiger Bloom and CalMag.

I strongly suggest downloading the fox farm feeding schedule and following it to the letter. If you switch to simply TB and calmag after the flip, and don't also use the recommended amounts of Grow Big and Big Bloom, you are not really using FF nutrient system... you are simply guessing what is needed, and you may be not feeding your plant what it needs. Although I have seen people do this occasionally so I know that someone is recommending only using TB, it is very rare to see someone just using Tiger Bloom who does not get in trouble later in flower. That trio was designed to be used in varying proportions all through the grow and the system works very well if used as recommended.

Just wanted to show structure. I have the FF schedule as suggested. Didn’t realize the big bloom was such an important part of it. I saw the low nute values and thought it was just a way to sell more products. Seeing as how I already have the two I’m gonna grab the big bloom tomorrow. I’m on week 4 currently so hopefully the addition will prove worth it. One question I do have is when I get the BB should I continue to add the CalMag in my feeding regimen. Thanks in advance

Yes, using the 3 products together as intended will make a huge difference. The Big Bloom has nothing to do with supplying the calcium and magnesium that is needed, so yes, you still need to add CalMag, right up till the next to last watering.

Just an update. Tuesday was the end of week 4 so I flipped to 12-12 beginning last night. I switched out the bulbs from 2-1600 lumen 5000k to 2-1600 Lumen 2700k. I have more bulbs and Y connectors but I don’t want it to get too warm inside. Temp has been pretty steady at 27c with just the two bulbs and they seem plenty bright enough at the distance. Any input is appreciated. Flushed with dechlorinated tap water. Don’t have a ph meter or strips but haven’t seen any issues so far. Starting this week feeding tiger bloom and CalMag. Used grow big and CalMag thru veg.

So I decided to do a defoliation since the growth will soon slow after the flip to 12s. I just don’t want it to get too bushy. Once it starts to show signs of flowering it will still get plenty of light. That’s the idea anyway.

Gave first flower nute feeding since flushing on Wednesday last night. Fox Farms Grow Big and Tiger bloom at recommended doses along with CalMag. I will use the FF nutes as suggested on the feeding schedule online minus the Big Bloom. I just feel like the CalMag will pick up the slack without it as long as I use the other two as posted in the feeding schedule.

So I am pushing the limits of LST. I want to keep the top as low and level as possible so that when she starts stretching there will still be space between the plant and the top of my space bucket/lights.

I switched to 12/12 two weeks ago but I’m still not seeing any signs of flowering. Maybe she’s just a late bloomer or recovering from the bending.

All in all it seems to be going well. Still feeding with FF Grow Big and Tiger Bloom in addition to CalMag at recommended doses. Temp is steady around 24-26C and Humidity fluctuating between 55-60.

As always any advice or input is appreciated.

You cant expect a plant that is not sexually mature to flower... its just not going to happen. Stop giving flowering nutes (tiger bloom) until flowering actually occurs and wait till you see a few pistils before switching to 12/12.
Thank you for the info! So seeing as how I’ve had it on 12/12 for a couple weeks, would I risk herme if I put it back to 18/6?

no, light stress causing hermaphroditism happens in flower, not in veg. Give the plant more light now and it will just grow faster and of course it will stay in veg. Why the big hurry to go to flower already? The longer you wait, the bigger and better your final yield is going to be.

In veg, plants adapt. In flower, they react. - Emilya

Just wanted to show some progress. She has stretched a good bit and starting to show pistils. Had to get creative with the tie down of the branches to make sure I get max light penetration.

Have been following FF feeding with calmag. Added another 2700k 1100 lumen bulb to the 2 1600 lumen ones I had. Humidity has been a little up due to rain and moist air. Been at about 70% with temp of 27C. But I have air circulating.

Flowering is going well. Still doing the same FF schedule with Calmag. No signs of deficiency or stress that I can see. She's hungry tho. I water every 3 days at this point and she drinks it dry by each feeding. Next week is another flush just to avoid any issues. I flush every 4 weeks as recommended.

I did notice a couple of very light purple streaks on the stems so any input on wether it looks genetic or the start of an issue I'd like to catch it early if it might be.

Other than that, looking and going well. I'm gonna try to squeeze in some side lighting but not sure how to go about it. Any advice is welcome and appreciated.
