Bag Seed 2.0

So I’m gonna give it another go. Found a seed in a bag of some decent, fruity pebbles smelling smoke that I got. The fact that it was the only one in an oz. leads me to believe it’s a female so here I go again.

Setup is a 5 gallon bucket I took the time to glue and press aluminum foil to the inside walls and lid. Gonna start with 2x 1600 lumen 5000k LED bulbs. 1x 12v PC fan in the lid to draw out heat and a 4” opening at the bottom. This is the same bucket as my first grow, just well scrubbed and clean.

The plan is to do a manifold and try to keep it short with LST. Instead of 8 colas I will only trim for 4. I’ll top down to the 3rd node once it hits 5 and remove all the vegetation below that. Then just let the arms reach out to have 2 main colas on each arm. I’ll tie those down and keep it as low as possible.

As much as I wanted to do the hempy bucket, it just wasn’t possible right now, so I’m using soil again. It’s regular potting soil that a few weeks ago I added epsom salt, a few banana peels, some gypsum powder, and a bit of crushed dried leaves to. I kept it moist so everything can break down a bit. When it’s time for nutes I’ll be once again using FF Tiger Bloom and this go around I also have CalMag. I’ll be using the 79 cent a gallon spring water to try to maintain a decent pH. I’ll be potting in a shallow potting container, once again to try to keep it short, hopefully without needing any spacers this time but I have them just in case.

I'm in, love the idea of starting 12/12. I hope this grow gets you some good buds for yourself.
Should do much better with some training after the initial top. Still a ways away tho. Seed cracked last night and had a good taproot today so I put her in her bed so hopefully she pokes her head out within the next few days.

We have liftoff! I’m gonna see which of the 2 is the healthier one after about 2 weeks. Then do my manifold with that one. There just isn’t any room for twins unfortunately.

Update thus far. Trying to keep it short and sweet. Pretty basic setup. Not happy about the algae or whatever that is on the soil. I have some composted soil that I’ll be moving it to once it gets to about 3 nodes. Not sure how to transplant without bringing the green stuff to the new soil.

Just a quick update. Hasn’t been much to report but now I’m getting some growth so my content should increase soon. Today is a week since she stuck her head out from the soil and she’s been growing fairly well. I decided to go with a 18/6 light schedule since I’ll be topping and training this go around.

10 days. Very noticeable growth every day. About my only concern, for anyone that followed my first journal, is the purple stem so young. My last plant had issues almost immediately into flower and it was a heart breaker. I’m still only feeding spring water, which has a pH of 6.1 according to the most recent water report.

I don’t know if I should transplant From the cup to the pot before or after topping. I’m going to wait until it’s a full grown out 5-6 nodes before I do, but any input about when would be appreciated.

So she’s only 12 days old. But growth is strong and healthy. Even tho the baby leaves are still there, I felt comfortable topping, which turned more into a FIM lol. I know it’s super early, but I think I spot some female calyx. Am I right? The sooner I catch them, the sooner I can move to a new plant if not lol.
