Atulip's Closet - LED - Swick Organic Soil - NLxBB - White Widow - Blue Kush

10/03 NLxBB growing strong, we've been moving her further down in the screen. Not much new on White Widow, growing slowly, no sign of roots yet. Blue Kush is showing roots at the bottom. We also topped her. Swick is empty and top of soil is dry. We'll give them a couple days more to dry up, then rewater.

NLxBB(60 days from seed)
We watered her today with 1 gallon water, 1/8 cup coconut water, 1 capfull aloe vera juice, and a pinch of kelp meal. I also broke out the refractometer, I figured she's had time to recover from the Mg deficiency. We're at brix 14, high brix territory. :)

Welcome new subs. Smoke a bowl, grab some cheetos, and experience living organic soil with me.

looking good here sir -- fine work!

I like the fact that you are experimenting with mediums -- will be interesting to see what your favorite is down the road.

I'm loving swick organic so far, as long as no issues come up in flowering, next grow will be LOS too. Why I like it is no pH monitoring, no nutes, reservoir cleanings, and I'm at brix 14 and expecting it to rise with added compost teas. I've already mixed up 50gallons more soil, with more lime for the Mg deficiency, so I'm expecting next grow to go even smoother.

Swick living organic soil. "Just set it and forget it!"

10/10 Update. Swick refilled and plants top watered on 10/5. Each got a watering with Epsom salts. NLxBB is getting 1 gallon weekly of 1/8 cup coconut water, capful aloe juice, tbs Epsom salts, pinch of kelp meal, and a pinch of dolomite lime powder.

NLxBB getting huge.

Blue Kush took to the topping well.

White Widow has been getting ponytail training instead of topping. From 10/5 to 10/10 she had her top growth tied up and the light dropped to 8 inches above her for 6 hours a day.

A lot happening this week. We set up our new tent. She's twice as big as our closet space. Growlab 80L, 4'11"x2'7"x6'7". We outfitted her with a 600watt Hortilux HPS bulb and a Quantum ballast. We also added the two old mars hydro 300watters on each side of the hps. For air we're using a no brand 6" inline fan and an 8"x24" Phresh carbon filter. The fan is mounted in the attic to reduce noise and is plugged into a fan speed controller. Intake is passive with the vent screen lined with a wall AC vent.

Swick bed built also. I may just let it dry and hand water in this tent to keep humidity down.

Test runs in the tent:
Dry Swick, 600watt HPS at 100%, fan at 50% power, for 2 hours, temps of 82℉ with RH of 54

Dry Swick, 600watt HPS at 100%, fan at 75% power, for 2 hours, temps of 78℉ with RH of 52

Wet Swick, 600watt HPS at 75%, fan at 75% power, for 2 hours, temps of 75℉ with RH of 67

Well be at 75% HPS and Fan power for now.

Day 73 from seed. NLxBB has been moved to the new tent. Today will be her first night of flowering. A couple months of veg time and she started showing nitrogen deficiency early this week. Worm Castings added with a watering, and we'll keep an eye on her. Have synthetic nutes if worm water doesn't help, need to get some bat guano to keep on hand.

And to the closet:

28 days from seed. White Widow is filling in nicely.

33 days from seed. Blue Kush growing big and beautiful. She's getting a bit of LST with her tops tied down. A couple more weeks and she can join NLxBB in flowering.

Cool new setup and awesome looking plants:)

That pony-tail training looks nice, I'm gonna copy that for one of my plants:thanks:

You could get a dehumidifier to keep humidity down and still use swick.

10/19

Not an update on our main three. I didn't want to waste all this available space and light so we're starting our next "project".

Once White Widow and Blue Kush are out of the closet(2-3 weeks), we'll be running a SOG style grow. 9 plants will be in 2 gallons pots in our 2'7"x2'7" closet tent. Amount of veg time is to be determined, but we're starting seeds directly in soil in our flower tent.

The seeds are Royal Queen Special Kush(Kush) and Special Queen(Skunk). 5 of each planted, with hopes that 9 out of 10 germinate.

10/24 Happy Halloween. A week early but we carved pumpkins. Naturally I only took photos of my pumpkin so that's all I can upload lol.
IMAG058519.jpg

NLxBB still progressing N deficiency. Little to no stretching. We defoliated all yellow/dead leaves. Worm water alone seemed to help none, so we've brewed a proper compost tea. Picked up a 5 gallon Gatorade cooler, and made 3.5 gallons of ACT. 3/4 cup worm casting, tbs kelp meal, 2 tbs Mexican bat guano(10-1-1), tbs unsulfurized molasses bubbled for 24 hours.
IMAG059018.jpg
IMAG059412.jpg

NLxBB received 1.5 gallons of tea with a tbs extra bat guano added to her water. Blue Kush and White Widow each received a gallon.

Blue Kush is getting tall, not very bushy though. Topping her gave us 4 tops. LSTing her a bit more then we'll put her in the flower tent next week.
IMG_20151024_050321.jpg

White Widow is tiny but bushy. We've been fan tucking, which is exactly as it sounds, tucking the top fan leaves below the lower growth to get more light. Hopefully 2 weeks more then flower.

SOG Project

3 kush sprouts and 1 skunk so far. Slow sprouting but I'm blaming the weather. We hadn't transitioned from AC to heat yet and household temps were in the low 60s. Compensates by increasing HPS to 100% A couple days ago, and leaving fan at 75%. Temps sitting at 76℉ now, much better. Hopefully none died below the surface but we're gonna leave them alone for another week and see what we've got.

"Fan tucking" -- yet another technique I learned from you! +rep

Things seem to be progressing well for you guys and looking very good. So I have to ask -- this organic tea mixing and all the magic stuff you "brew" as part of this project; are you finding it to be "overly" time consuming?

And that pumpkin rocks :)

Fan tucking and ponytail are both from Atrain. He does some crazy stuff with autos and I wanted to give it a go on a photo. I'm planning a 6month auto run in this big tent and reserving the closet for experiments(sea of green, 20gal pot 1 monster sized plant, maybe a flood & drain run). Hess definitely got good journals to read. Here We Grow Again! - A-train's DP Auto Ultimate x 2

Not at all time consuming. Now that I have different ingredients handy, all I have to do is scoop a few things in a bag and toss it in the cooler to bubble. Takes maybe 10 minutes. I've been letting the swick beds dry a bit between waterings, so once every two weeks or so I spend 15 mins making trips to the bathroom and back filling the water. Otherwise I check with on them every 2 or 3 days, maybe more if I've got something interesting going on(like the seedlings. We have 5 kush and 3 skunks sprouted so far). Very low maintenance setup, and I'm loving it so far.

SOG update. All 10 sprouted. Dropped the leds to 12" over them to stop anymore stretching. Plan to move them to the closet this weekend.

Subbed here - like the use of organic soil. reps to ya 100%. Most folks around these parts don't really go for organic soil for some reason.

I see you switched from SWIK - humidity too high? 75% is way high for me, I start to get a little concerned at anything over 70% for longer than a few hours specially if there's buds in the room! Last night we did some IPM foiler spray with neem cake/kelp tea & Spinosad which raised the RH to like 80% a little muggy in grow room.

Nice looking plants you have going - did you ADD a new grow room or enlarge the one you were in already???
