Discussion of contest rules

somone could easily post 25 posts in 10 mins!, i think other ideas should be looked at!

So true. Didn't think of that. It took me over a week, amybe even 3 weeks. I don't post a lot. I have no experience with growing yet, so I can't help much, so I don't post a bunch. I hope something can happen that will make the majority of folks happy. I'm new here and like the contests, they are a cool way to get plants and nugs together to show them off. It's like "the best bud porn of the month - look here" HAHAHA That's what I thought about it at least. :allgood:

Will give it a few more days to give anyone that has an opinion to get a fair chance to express it, then I'll post a poll of the suggestions.

42 rep points is a possibility as well ;)

Actually, basing it solely on rep points probably is the best solution. It allows the members to determine when and why someone deserves the "points". And yes it could take a while to "earn" these points, but that's precisely the point, the member will have earned the privilege to vote.

We know the quantity of the posts as to a count (25 or 42 to vote) can easily be achieved very quickly.

And if you just base it on time, well that's not really determining the quality of the participant either.

Yes the privilege of voting should be based on the earning of rep points!

Excellent solution.

PS. I think I'll need a few more points, :battingeyelashes:

Sorry to have come so late to this thread, I did not know it existed till today. I had some ideas earlier that have been mentioned by some and I have some ideas that I have seen previously posted here and I may or may not have modified.

Anonymously posted entries (only the moderator knows the identity of pic owner) True many of us may know who the pic belongs too by having visited that person's thread, but not all of us have been everywhere.

Absolutely no campaigning anywhere because that is exactly what it is when you promote your entry. This is a must and will greatly assist in the anonymity of the entry. If a person promotes himself through PM's after knowing that it is not allowed well that just shows his character doesn't it? Not necessary to have someone monitor it. Just as in regular elections no one knows (unless they're caught) if there are votes being bought except the two parties involved - let them stew in there own guilt.

Minimum time or posts to site - good idea

Just my thoughts and of others that I agree with.

Thanks:thumb:

42 days and 42 rep points works for me....
By then there's a much better chance people are voting with there heads...

Im in... this existing thing sux

heres a bad idea that nobody will like, but it will end all the BS.

just let the staff vote only, and make our votes show public.

nom who you want, enter if you want. i would rather have a few member pissed at me cause they dont like my vote than a bunch of members mad at a bunch of members.

ok, pit, let me have it ... :grinjoint:

With respect.

Yes, I've seen that, but really it's not the same "Call to Action" that you're looking for. A private message (or email) will most likely increase voting exponentially, especially with a direct link to the poll. [I know I'll open up a can of worms here but,] you may even include a paid sponsor advertisement banner within the private message. "This month's poll, sponsored by".

This conjecture, of course, is based on the fact that you really do want to increase the amount of members that vote on these polls.

S.F.

I belong to another forum & this is similar to a method that they use for something there. Not only does it catch my attention, but I've clicked on the sponsor link a few times & shopped there. The hubby has a few xmas gifts to show for it.

I think that's a good idea actually to be honest. Not everyone's gonna be happy all the time, right?

(And I actually don't get why this is such a big deal? ...... but maybe it's b/c I'm new here).
