Does this look right?

I'm a new grower and I've done everything right so far (I think) but after germinating my seed and putting it into soil, it stated to bulge out as a white loop. It looked healthy but didn't look right because it's not supposed to come out as a loop and now it is starting to turn a brownish color and doesn't look so healthy. Please help!

It looks to me like you accidently planted the germinated seed upside down and the root tip shot out of the top of the soil. After germination you should plant the seed about a 1/4 inch with the white emerging root tip pointed downward. You're probably going to have to restart with a new seed.

I think herb hit the nail on the head. Looks like you planted the seed upside down and shallow so the root tip emerged rather than the cotyledon. You could pull it out and rebury with what's sticking out down in the earth and see what happens. With how brown your root tip is it may be to late, but worth a shot.

Agreed, seed is upside down. You had a 50/50 chance. When you plant another the sprout coming out of the seed is the root, plant it downward 1/4 inch below the soil and then it will push the split seed up out of the soil, shed the seed husk and you'll see green cotyledon leaves starting to open to the light.
