Journal In Progress: My First Outdoor Grow Journal

Hey Kiki, I hope ya don’t mind if I pull up a chair. Ya got weed growing in your garden and a couple of guard cats, both are a plus in my book. And yes I believe you can post videos. I’ve seen other folks do that.

Awesome what kind of plants your going to grow.
im growing 79 xmas bud. im pretty excited for these to grow. We had some come around michigan back in the early 2000's and i really liked it. The plant is pretty rare, you can't buy feminized seed only regular because the few people that have it are trying to keep it from dying out. It took me years to track down some seeds and i just sprouted them about a week ago.

Kiki you never did say if you are planting them in the ground or keeping them in the pots
or I missed it

I’m sorry my bad just get excited looking at my plants. I’m going to keep them in the pot for a week might be less I was looking at the bottom and I’m seeing roots which is good but can’t have them grow out of the pots. I will be digging the holes today to prepare myself going to buy more soil to put in the holes also take out the mountain of dirt I had piled up I keep falling over it.

Going to be a busy day this morning cutting half of the orange tree above my cage I got to get my camera above that area. It sure is a workout when your doing it by yourself lucky my husband helped me last night to even the dirt pile I had in the cage. I will be digging holes later today to get 6 ready in the ground later tonight. I got my mesh in order another one because I need more to cover my cage. Once I get them all in the ground I’ll cover them.

Do you have water piped to that area? If so, how are you planning on watering them? Some kind of drip irrigation perhaps? Maybe you already mentioned that and I just missed it.

Thanks for reminding me I really haven’t thought about it. I usually water with the hose and mix with a bucket then pour it on my plants. I got too many plants to break my back over it. I’m thinking about drip irrigation will be way easier for me

Looks awfully crowded already ...Happy 420

Yeah, drip irrigation would be so much easier with that many plants. Would you have to get some sort of reservoir system or would you use dry amendments in the soil and then just use water in the drip lines?

The 7 on the left side won’t be in the cage. I’m going to plant 2 on the side outside the cage. Grape ape and Ice cream cake. A few on the side of the shop fence. I have too many I didn’t think all the seeds will pop up that’s why I did extra to cover it.
Should be at least 4' sq. for each plant
Happy 420

I’m trying my best to get my holes in but my nerve damage kicks in. Hopefully tonight I can get the 6 in the ground already got the holes ready. I had to get 7 more bags of soil and 4 more bigger pots to grow 10 in pots I won’t have room to put them in the cage. My rabbit is not allowed to eat my plants. Watching the cats take a break from watching the plants

Nice looking start to your garden. Are you planning on using some sort of nutes or are you going for more of a super soil grow? I’ve heard on cannabis pod casts that if you just dig a hole and the fill it with just your plant and bagged soil, the plant still thinks it’s in a pot and the roots won’t spread out. They say it’s best to mix the bagged soil with the native soil so the roots will then want to spread out. Just a thought.

Thanks for the information I love this site I’m learning everyday from everyone. I usually dig my hole mix it with perlite, soil and the loose dirt. I’m making sure the roots go down in the ground we get triple digits here in the summer very bad. I think if the roots are deep enough to keep cool it will keep them from stressing out. I’m not sure about the 10 I’m going to grow in pots since it’s a dark color I’m worry about the pot staying hot unless I keep the area moist.
