Just bought a light why is it smoking?

I just bought our son blaster 125 W light for vegetative growth to replace my HPS light but when I plug it in it smokes just wondering why

There is a no reason a CFL bulb should emit smoke at any time.

I would stop using it immediately, and contact the vendor for a return/exchange.

Sounds like bad luck, just get a new bulb

Did you wipe the bulb with a clean cloth mabe finger prints, oils in your hand?
Wen u installed it.?

Was the HPS ballast still plugged into the hood/reflector ?

That would mess up a cfl pretty quickly...


HPS/MH are a different voltage from mains electric that is why we have ballast to convert the current.

CFL have an in built ballast plug in and play.
