My first bud: When can I harvest?

Thanks for all the advice everyone! :)

I have now switched from general hydroponics nutes to an organic fertilizer with molasses. No reason except that I have run out gh fertilizer. Hope it works out.

Ph was 6.1 after mixing the organic fertilizer and tap water so I might alternate between plain water and feeding with the organic fertilizer so the soil doesnt get too acidic. Is this a good idea??

Unrelated Question:
What is the effect of being root bound?
I have an outdoor Northern Lights plant in flower that i am sure is root bound and she is progressing very slowly (Already Day 57 with hairs but buds are just starting to develop and this strain is supposed to flower in 54-63 days). I wonder if being root bound is also contributing to this delay. Any thoughts?

Root bound plants can tend to show deficiencies, particularly in hard sided pots and less so in cloth ones. They also need watering more often.

Are your organic nutes just made from organic material or are you trying to start an entire colony of microbes? I ask because molasses isn't a plant nutrient, it's used to feed the herd of microbes in organic soil. And after feeding the plant synthetic nutes this whole time, you probably don't have a herd now.

Flowering times given by the breeder are for indoor grows. Outdoors is pretty much determined by mother nature, and is typically late September/early October for harvest, depending on location and weather.

Hi @Oldbear ! :ciao: Yes here are some photos of her... I took the photos today (Day 59 since she grew hairs).

I see your point @BeezLuiz. I can really see the difference in development time between this plant and my indoor clone of the same strain. I see some improvement though.

Thanks you and have a good day everyone! :Namaste:

Thank you so much for this tip! I added "EM1 Innoculant" during watering today. Will this be okay? How long should I keep adding innoculant? I was thinking once would be enough right?

:thanks:

I don't know anything about organic soil or innoculants, so I can't help you there. I do have a question though. Are you growing on a balcony? How many hours of direct sunlight does it get per day?

Yes i am. :snowboating: I figure only around 4 hrs direct sunlight at max. I think it's not enough though but I dont have any other choice. I'm still hoping for the best though! :):Namaste:

Hello! :ciao:

I have a "sister clone" of the outdoor Sour Diesel that I veged and flowered indoors. It is now 40 days since she grew hairs.

Although the buds have way more trichomes, they are also a lot smaller than the one flowering outdoor.

Question:
1. Will her buds still get bigger?
2. How long before she is ready for harvest?

Sorry if I have too many questions. :eek:o_O

:thanks:

:Namaste:

This answers your question about fewer trichomes! :cheesygrinsmiley: 4 hours of direct sunlight is absolutely the cause of the difference between your outside plant and the one in the tent.

Question:
1. Will her buds still get bigger?
2. How long before she is ready for harvest?
1. Yes!
2. No way to know at this stage unless the breeder gives you an idea. Weeks for sure.

Update: Outdoor Sour Diesel

Here are some pictures her. I put some fly paper for the white flies and all other pests im having trouble with. I dont want to use pesticides so close to harvest.

She is at 83 days since growing hairs today. Although more than half of her trichomes have turned white, growth has been slow and no amber trichomes yet too, just her hairs turning amber. I think she looks beautiful though with all the amber colors. :circle-of-love: I'm so excited for harvest time!!!!:love::ganjamon:

One thing i'm curious of though is that I dont see any fading leaves at all. I'd like to wait for some leaf fading first before harvesting just to experience what happens and to be sure she's finished flowering.

Have a great day everyone and thanks for all the help!!!! :thanks:

:Namaste:

Your Sour D is bulking up nicely! :thumb: I think you'll be pretty happy once she's ready.
