The Deep Water Culture Home

RedDawg, nice lookin buds you got there!!!

Just stopping in to say what's up to my Deep Water Culture buds. Hope everyone is doing well. I haven't had much time on here lately but am keeping up on the reading of a few journals. Things are super busy right now, but in a really good way.

See ya, Vaping up now!!! :hookah:

Oh I'll get the review I promised for the Vapir vs the De Buddah soon. I already have used my Vapir a few times and want to use it a couple more times to have a good review. SP hopefully next week I'll post one here and on my grow link. If I'm lucky, I might start a new grow soon. Just cause it's so much fun!

Hey Deep Water Culture, I thought I'd introduce myself, I've been growing for about 2 1/2 years in soil, Rosemans tutorial conviced me to make the swap over to hydro.
I just finished building & fired up my 1st Deep Water Culture unit this week, more or less an expierament, I put 3-707 Headbands in 6" net pots, they started off in peat so I put them into coco cups for liners in the net pots, these are 3 rooted clones that I won't cry over if I loose them, I just wanted something to learn the system with to start off.
I'm using Milwaukee constant P/H & TDS meters, P/H is riding at 5.9 & TDS around 600, I'm using Botanicare Veg, thats what I was using before I started going more organic in soil, I'm familar with the line and there sitting on the shelve, I'm also using R/O water amending it with 5ml/pg of CalMag and superthrive in veg.
Vegging under 252w of LED, after 3 days 1 of the girls are looking very good and the other 2 I think one will go south & the other is on the cusp right now, no biggie like I said I chose these 3 because like Rambo there expendible if I become the "Canna-nator".
Any nute's advise for future grows I'm open to or any advise at all, I think my biggest issue this week is keeping the temps down, I'm not thrilled the rez temp reads mid 70's.
I had red tinted water the day after so I did a practice water change to try & clear the water, something I was not looking forward to, no muss no fuss, simple, messing with the addional water has been the biggest issue why I've put off going hydro, much to do about nothing.
Can't wait to get rid of most of my soil, except for mothers.
Regards,
John Whorfin

Welcome John, I think you will like it here, it's a way of life.:welcome::peace:

Hey Scaredeecat, are you thinking you are looking at what may become a hermaphrodite? It doesn't appear so to me. Looks like normally developing callyxs. Anyone else see something Scaredeecat should be concerned about?

Need some help from the soil growers out there. My soil is chugging along and I switched to Fox Harm nutes and they like them.

Now my question is on the label of the FF nutes (I have the trio) it says to use every other watering. Well, I'm on a different schedule. I water-then wait till dry- additives - then wait till dry - and then nutes. If I going to go by there schedule what should I do? Skip the water step and just do nutes and then additives, mix it up and make sure they get some of all thress over a 7-10 period? Combine my additives and the nutes and go water on the other cycle? Need some direction.

All plants are healthy both soil and BP. I'm looking at next saturday as the flower date and that will be exactly 5 weeks veg. BP is about 18" and the soils are around 12". I'm saving one more supercrop for the BP to even it up but I got to do it soon. I like a week's recovery before I do anything drastic like go to 12/12. This particular strain does continue to stretch about 3 weeks + a day or two into flower instead of the usual 2.

The Jack Herer strain has a real push-pull because of the almost even sativa/indica mix. That means she will probably go closer to 2 1/2x veg height at finish. The last group of Jack's I grew came awfully close to that but these are fem seeds from a different seed bank but I'll prepare for it. I moved some lights around to get max coverage and give me room for sidelights when the time comes.

I've been misting 3-4x a day with a very mild nute load (100-200ppm) and a little superthrive in the mister. Trying to keep the humidity above 55% as best I can.

Res temps on the bp have been stable around 68. When it touches 70 I get out the frozen peas! Using AN Sensi two part and the ph has been stable but does run between 5.7-6.3. Running the nutes at 800ppm and the plants seem fine with that. No nute burn and the leaves are flat and shiny. Haven't lost a leaf yet and that's just weird! LOL! Did hook up some side lights for the bp tank. Bought some new 40 watts. Have 4 each of 6500 and 2700k and 2-5000k. I have a set of 2700's aimed at a promising grow tip that I am trying to coax to the canopy. Also doing some leaf tucking to expose some grow tips to the light as best I can. The goal is to have 8 growing tips on each plant that can see the light before I go 12/12. Done on the bp but the soil is stubborn.

Hi all. Seeing we have a few newcomers (myself included) and some very learned long time growers here. I feel I should pitch my first grow journal here. Especially if you want to get in on one that has just recently begun. I could use the company and the advice or criticism (constructive, that is) of my fellow :420: I can promise ya plenty of bud porn when the girls are at the age of consent. I even have pictures of the girls and thier whole family from the early days. So drop on in and be a part of Drdan's Advanced Nutrients Hydro Grow, Afghan-Gooey and Others

Mr.MostlyCrazy..

This Sir is simply my personal Opinion,, and the way I did things in Dirt,, as an Ex-DirtBagger.. I would personally do Nutes one Day,, then after the Soil is Dry to the point where you like it add the Additives that Day,, then when the Soil is dry to where you like to water it again do the Water.. And depending on how they react to that Schedule,, adjust,, the majority of the time for me,, I would end up doing Water and SuperThrive 2 or more days after the Nutes and Additives.. ..

But,, I dont play in the Dirt anymore,, not since finally convincing myself to switch to Hydro,, then stumbling on to this Site (Which I WISH I had found a Month PRIOR to my convincing,, lol).. .. And these are strictly the way I did things and just my Humble Opinion.. ..

You may not want to follow my Suggestions though,, I tend to ALWAYS LIKE to PUSH the HELL outta my BabyGurlz !! !!

this is what i think i see maybe not:)
i bought the high times special collectors edition seeds and strains guide 2010 mag this week and just got a chance to look at it this morning an low and behold i see what i have on page 40 and 41. seed pods????
i don't know how this could have happen but it looks like it. if it is seeds it's only about 20 on whole plant and not in buds but at bottom of cola, would this mean the seeds would be female?

here is the pic in mag

here is my plant

I looked at the pictures long and hard to see if I could see what was giving you concern Scaredeecat. I see nothing or I don't see what you're talking about.

Its possible that that is a seed pod. I view from the top would be more definitive. Is it becoming firm?

not firm spongey, i am not realy to concerned about it just had not seen it before and it is not on other plants

I have read here before that some growers find seeds on female plants. In fact If I recall one grower said they found some seed development on all plants. (I could be wrong on that) If you notice a slowing of trich production and or trich devlopement on this plant it would indicate a fertilization and that she is no longer trying to be sexy for the pollen. This is all conjecture on my part as I am a fairly recent member of the growers fraternity. I, as you, await additional opinions on this issue.

Whats up Deep Water Culture, I'm new here and I've been doing alot of research and looking into stuff for my first grow, I plan on being a Deep Water Culture when i start growing but i dunno when that will be, I just had a question or two. I dont necessarily want to use crappy bagseed i get but im sketched out by the sites that i have looked at, So i guess my question would be how safe/reliable are these sponsored links for buying seeds online? and if there are any other suggestions im all ears.

I've orderd from a couple of our sponsors here and haven't had any problems. I've always got my seeds quickly !
