Unexpected Virgin Bag Seed Grow - 2014

speaking of rearranging my garden, I have another cabinet for the Male/Female pot and I'm thinking of taking some clippings from a couple of the bigger females to start a few new plants but I have no idea how to go about doing this.
Where on the plant do I take a clipping?
How much do I take?
What medium do I use to ensure the clippings root?

We'll let me see if I can help. I used cheap rooting powder from Wally World with those expanding jiffy pucks. After the roots started peaking out, I transplanted. You need to take one of the lower side shoots for the clone. If they are indeed autos, you won't be able to clone them. It will root, but will just be a stubby little single bud.

These were my clones- I went ghetto because my dog ate the little plastic container the pucks came in. You will need to have a humidity dome for the first week. I used fold top sandwich bag. You can see them in the corner of my first picture.

Firstly here are some pictures of the females. These plants will be kept together in a separate room.
I'm just going to keep on doing what I have been doing...
It looks 11 females in the main grow area.
Pictures are of separate plants.

The white bucket had one of my biggest plants, but it turns out it was male :(
The lonely female will have lots of room now. Including the pot the tallest plant is 2' tall.

Here is the new separate grow cabinet. It will hold 4 pots and it has adjustable shelves. I think this will be my main grow area once I'm finished with this grow. If I do another.
The pot with the M/F will be kept in here for the rest of the grow. The rest of the plants in this cabinet will be left here because at this point I think 11 females in the other grow area is enough.

New Cabinet.

Here is the male that is potted with the female.
Maybe someone can tell me if the seed pods are ripe yet. The are just starting to open, also this plant seems to be a hermi.
All pictures of the one male.

This should be enough Pot Porn for a while :)

Hello everyone, with the updated pics what do you think on the strain?
Could these be an auto-flowering strain?
I'm asking because if these are regular plants I should me moving to a 12/12 light schedule and repot some of the plants.

I have been thinking (dangerous I know) about the other 3 pots (5 plants) in the second grow cabinet.
Lets assume for a minute these plants are some strain of AF, I want to start experimenting with nutes. I figured since these 5 plants are sort of disposable so I'm going to nute them (or make nuke them hehe). They are mixed in with the M/F plants anyway so they are going to seed if they make it.
I do not have access to Fox Farm nutes or any nutes except big box store products.
This is what I have,
MG All purpose Liquid Plant Food, 12-4-8
MG Quick Start Liquid, 4-12-4
Root Booster Liquid, 5-15-5 (almost the same as the MG QS)
As stated before I'm using rain water so I asking what strength should I start at? I have some washed 1 gallon milk jugs to mix the nutes.

Thanks for the help.

wow talk about timing, I just checked the M/F in the second grow cabinet and the male flowers have fully opened and pollen everywhere.
Last evening the flowers were still closed but very large.
Can I store the pollen in a plastic baggy for future use?
Can I use a cotton swab to pollinate the female?
Last question, does the pollen have to touch all pistils or will the genetic info flow to all flowers from just pollinating 1 or 2 pistils?

You should put something under the male and tap it lightly. You can collect it, let it dry, then store it in the fridge with a grain of rice or two. It should be good for a few months. (I've never done it but I have seen some of the other grows that did it) In a few weeks when the ladies are bigger, use a q tip and pollinate. I assume these are AF plants because they are so far along in flowering on a 19/5 schedule. I would leave them at that.

As for nutes, I wouldn't use MG of any kind. It's hard to flush them out of the soil before harvest. (Or so I've been told) look for something higher in PK for flowering. Start at 1/4 strength for a week, then 1/2, then full. Just keep an eye out for nute burn!

thanks Jade, I will collect more pollen later. For the moment I just bent the male over and touched the female's pistils with the pollen sack.
I found some nute directions here on 420mag, it does say not to use MG however if you have to, it has some guidelines.
Nutes: What To Use & How To Use Them Tutorial
Since this is an experiment, I think I will follow the guidelines they recommend.
Yep I think most agree these plants are some strain of AF so I will leave the lighting as is.

Another update.
This is just for the females in the big grow area.
The plants are really stretching, I have read in the Auto's forum that light scheduling might have something to do with the plants getting tall. The 5 hours of off time might be too long for autos. From what I have read the longer off period will cause the plants to get taller and flower later. I wonder if switching these plants to 23/1 schedule will help eliminate the stretching and promote more bottom growth?

Now off to the grow box with the Male/Female and some younger plants. I always work on the Female grow area first then button them up before working on the M/F area.

This is an interesting topic as some use a 24/0 only and some say you should have a brief period of off time.
On Friday I switched the Male/Female area to a 22/2 schedule, I will monitor their growth for the next week to determine if a switch to a shorter off period would benefit the Females in the main grow.

Updated pictures of the females.
Is the yellowing of the lower leaves normal? Lighting has remained the same 19/5.
I added another 2 tubes last week for a total of 10 x 32 watt tubes, 6@6500K and 4@2700K.
I'm thinking of switching to 12/12 lighting.
Some of the girls are getting bushy with lots of pistils while a few seem to just grow straight up and only a few pistils.
The soil I used was MG enriched 3 month stuff that I mixed 50/50 with organic soil and added perlite and lime.
Maybe I should add some nutes? I have been experimenting with nutes on the Male/Female grow area but it is too soon to tell if they are doing more harm than good.
I'm thinking another month before they are ready?

Here is the Male/Female grow area.
I started using some MG all purpose nutes 2 watering ago. It was mixed 1/2 of the normal dosage and applied after a regular watering.
Basically I watered them as normal then gave a little more of the nute/water mix.
They plants are really stinky! Notice the pollen on the male(hermi) plant's leaves and the seeds starting to show.
I have to remount the CFLs in this area as the plants are growing too close.
A question, I pollinated the females in this area with the pollen from the hermied male will the resulting seeds be hermies?
