So a friend i know kinda gave up hope on this plant.

My question is?
It this just a over watering issue?
Dose it have anything to do with the nutrients he just started using a week ago.
I think root rot may be at hand also when i repoted to my pot the roots where a little bit brown and dry looking.
How to fix this?

Any questions for me ?

The one plant looks like it is either already dead or it has been severely underwatered. That one cant be determined with that picture. The other shot clearly shows an overwatered plant with shut down lower roots. You can't fix what has already been done, but you can save this plant and give it a new lease on life. I implore you to read my article referenced below on how to properly water. Watering a weed correctly is not intuitive and reading my thoughts about the wet/dry cycle will help you to help this plant survive. Good luck, but transplanting was the first best thing you could have done... now lets let the plant recover.
