Would like to hear from old timers like myself - the 70s

I remember the 15$ lids, coke can bongs, 40$ columbian gold and Thai stick on occasion, once in awhile honey oil would show up. But mostly lids full of seeds and stems, 4 finger lids too, got stoned out of our minds on this stuff, whatever it was, lol.

I used to have a party truck back in high school, mid 70's, called the green elephant, it was called that because we would smoke doobies in there until we couldn't see out because of all the smoke, it had bucket seats with 2 huge house speakers between the seats and we could take them out and put them on the roof for tunes at our many many bonfires, we lived in the sticks in northern Minnesota and had many places to party at. Once in awhile the cops would show up and take or weed but didn't bust us, they were very cool about it all, and besides, how is 1 or 2 cops going to arrest 200 people? Lol everyone had pot. The good old days and they really were good times, no fights, very few if any hassles from anyone, we were all cool and very fun.

Re: would like to hear from old timers like myself..the 70s

I remember Lids/Oz's being 20 bucks.
A 1/4 was a nickel...five bucks.

I remember getting quite upset when the price of the Lid doubled to 40.00

Long long Time ago...I can hear the music......

You're walking in MY shoes, Ground Control! Yep many times I smoke up and reminisce. Nobody wanted skunk weed. But Panama Gold was all the rage. Did you use the rolling paper that came with Cheech and Chong's Up In Smoke album? We did!! WOW sigh......

Yes, the music was a BIG part of it. Black Sabbath, Canned Heat, Carlos Santana, The Stones, Jimmi Hendrix, The Who, The Doors, Cream, Janice Joplin (got to party with her once - I can't tell that story with ladies around), and of course The Beatles. Oh, oh, ... and what about Pink Floyd, Jefferson Airplane and Van Morrison. Wow. There was SO much good music those days.
Even though law enforcement was more "on" the drug war then, it seemed that we were much more free then. We could assemble, party, protest, give public speeches.
I got my first whiff of tear gas on Shattuck Avenue in Berkeley during the People's Park demonstrations. I was 16 years old then.
I saw the National Guard march up University Ave with bayonets fixed to 'disburse the crowd'. I watched a stoned-out-of-her-mind hippy girl stand her ground and as the tip of a bayonet touched her breast bone the lead soldier broke ranks and stopped his march, he didn't stick her. I held my breath - she just smiled at him. Some photographer took a picture as she dropped a daisy in the barrel of the rifle and it ended up in some famous magazine (remember those?) like Look or Life.
I am in the background of that picture. A fuzzy headed hippy kid with his mouth open ... LoL.
I was sure she was going to be killed.

Those were turbulent times.

These are stories we need to share with younger people. They need to know some of the REAL history, not the crap that is taught in schools, but the REAL deal. That is the way history used to be taught; word of mouth, from generation to generation. We can't loose that. Small kids today need to know what September 11 was REALLY like. Not the lies they are taught in school - we were there. We need to tell.

End of Rant.

Auggie,
You`re right and I agree with ya. Big problem I see, is getting the younger people to get their noses out of the electronic media long enough to listen to some of us old farts` stories. Later. Peace.

Loved it! :)

Remember the cans with coconuts on them that you needed a can opener for. What a smell, taste, and buzz. How about those Thai sticks?

Not the first time I`ve told this story, but here it goes again. Set it up first. I`m a retired firefighter. We always had a police vs. firefighter golf tournament. There was a back-up at the #3 tee box. When we were the only foursome left, the one LEO looked at us, as he pulled out a joint and asked "do you mind ?". The answer was "hell no" as we pulled out a joint to pass. We had the "highest" score of the day. Had a great time that tournament. Everyone wondered what took us so long to finish. Later. Peace.
We use to record when we smoked a dubbie. It was like a bar graft. the first hole it added 2 strokes and the second hole it added a single stroke.........everytime. dubbies will not HELP you score.

Hi every one been growing for 40 years now, 30 years full time, last 5 years legal and full LLC company in Oregon. We have two ware house grows a breeding house, 3 large greenhouse, and one club with another one on the way. 32 full time employees and 15 more for the summer season. This use to be fun and i really felt good getting over on the man, now its just a job and stress. I use to be free and traveled all over the world when ever i wanted to, went to Amsterdam my first time in 1982 and got seed for the very first seed bank THE CASSLE. Now all i do is work and am a slave to my grow rooms and employees. In 40 years i never one time got busted by the police, last Oct the feds raided our warehouse grows and cut down our crop two times taking all my equipment and bank accounts, even thought we are total legal doing every thing they have told us to do. We make payroll by paying the employees at the end of each day till we get our money back from the feds($680k), so far i have payed a Lawyer $38k and no where closer to getting our many back at all, feel like I'm getting robbed all over. The moral of this story…FUCK THE GOVERMENT, THEY DONT GIVE A RATS ASS about any of us, that i have know for years. I am really questing weather we should shut down and just go back under ground? But then they would win and at least with this bust no one was arrested. That is my old man story, i have a lot more if any one wants to lesson?

I have one really good one i will tell…lets see my kid is 34 and she was about 12 when this happen. So like 22 years ago. I had a very large indoor grow(over 400 plants) and we lived behind a porn shop, one where you put in the dollar and pay the chick to do what ever? Some guy took one of the girls hostage, and they used our home with the big ass grow in the basement as command center and it ended with him shooting the girl and the cops shooting him from my bedroom window. This lasted like 30 hours, news helicopters, streets shut down, a really big deal. They never went down stairs, and the only thing that saved us( i think ) was every one smoked cigs indoors in those days. And when the cops left there where cig butts every place in the house and a sink full of coffee cups. Want to hear more?

adakfooks,
Good stories, ya gotta have more. Go ahead, we got lotsa weed and time on our hands. Besides, my stories are not good for here as my life was spent differently then most.
2 years in Vietnam.
The aftermath.
Over 25 years as a firefighter in a city that, back then to the present has been in the top 10, and sometimes #1, in the country, in the rate of arson. Also has led the country in the highest rate of homicide before. Named the most dangerous city in the country in which to live before. Our governor, in a court case referred to it as "murder city". So my stories are not for here. Later. Peace.

Adakfooks......a big grow..........give us a hint......what do the big grows do to "prevent problems like mold and bugs" Always looking for what the big time growers do for these problems. looks like your the one. So tell us .
