I walked in my veg room the ballast was buzzing and the light was off, i spun the timer around to off and let the whole ballast cool 5 min then i rotated the timer it click on and the light started. why was the ballsastr buzzing and the lihgt was off ? ideas flic a bic

No I don't use one.

What I meant by "blip" is the power could have dropped off enough for the light to go out and instantly tried to restart
and failed. Thats part of the reason they recommend letting them cool before restarting.
A surge protector probably won't prevent that, they are more for protecting against spikes.

I don't know if that is what happened with your light, just a possibility.
You should know soon if it was that or equipment starting to fail.

Yeah, probably just some goofy hicup. Unless it starts to do that constantly, I wouldn't worry about it too much.
