Officers with the Richland County Sheriff's Department Drug Suppression Team
seized $275,000 worth of marijuana and arrested one person after receiving complaints from the community about drug activity in the Rosewood area.
Lawrence Lorenzo Armstead, 33, of Columbia was arrested and charged with one count of trafficking marijuana, and one count of trafficking marijuana within 1/2 mile of a school.
Officers made the arrest after responding to a home on Lotus Drive and finding people smoking marijuana in the yard. Further investigation revealed more than 150 pounds of marijuana.
"These arrests constitute community involvement and good police work by our Drug Suppression Team and our K9 Unit," Richland County Sheriff Leon Lott said. "The criminals need to know that the citizens and Sheriff's Department will not stand for this or any crime. That we are unified as a community and will work together to bring the them to justice."
