Little Rock, Ark. - Another medical marijuana commission meeting, another full room. Cultivation and dispensaries was the topic last week and this week.

A final decision has now been made, according to marijuana commission member Travis Story.

"We decided that starting off with the cultivation facilities that is going to be an all merit application," Story said. "The dispensaries are still going to be a function of lottery system, that's going to be where each person would apply for our right zones."

There are 32 dispensaries in eight zones, once you apply you'll be entered into a lottery. Story said they want the dedicated workers.

"We'll basically be looking for the best people to put forth their applications so we can pick the best people," he said.

Another decision made on Wednesday was the assets needed and performance bond needed if you want to start a dispensary that cultivates.

"You're going to need to bring a bond for $200,000 and show at least $100,000 in liquid assets and that's one of the things you'll end up needing in order to be a dispensary that's also going to cultivate," Story said.

The commission said they're looking to other states like Arizona to see what rules would work best for Arkansas.

"We want to look at the other states that have had this, look at where they've had problems, look at where they've had successes," Story said. "Then, ideally, we're trying to make the best new system and give that to the citizens of Arkansas."

The medical marijuana commission deadline has been pushed back to May 8, the commission says their rules will be ready by then.

The commission will meet again February 8 at 4 p.m.
