Auto flower grow in octopot, would it hurt to shorten the grow bag?

From what I know of octopots, it shouldn't be an issue unless you go to extremes - might get wicking problems then.

But no, the plant should be fine. The shape of the rootball tends to translate to the plant. Short wide pots grow shorter wider plants etc.

I had the same nagging question......
I have a photo in a 6 gallon Octopot, and man that thing takes up scarce headroom.
I wonder if trimming 6 inches off the top of the grow bag would be too much
 
I am useing 2 gallon cambros with my 5 gallon diy octoclone. Works just fine, no water logging at all. A earth boxs soil depth is less than mine, and earth boxes do grow great. The octo’s were developed with trying to mimic the natural water table. Less soil will not mimic this, but will still work fine. One note: less soil means a cover should be used to help control fungo knats.
