thanx

Soil plugs are the quick and easy way to go!! You can buy the foam floating trays that hold 18-25 plugs. Buy a propagation tray and dome, and a t5 flo, or equivalent. Also a heating mat is a MUST in temps below 70.

For nutes I use greenfuse rooting enhancer, just pour it in the propogation tray with the correct amount of water and let the plugs wick up the water. Keep about 1/2 inch or more of water in the tray at all times. Be clean and use a rooting gel when taking the cuttings.

Leave them for about a week and you should have roots coming out of the bottom of the plugs.

ive heard of propagation tray's the kind you get at a garden center or a propagation specialist and now that think about it i may just get one of those going. it seems like the cheapest/easiest way to get a bunch of clones going.what kind of soil plugs do u like??................ what i was reffering to in my post is the comercial aerogarden (infomercials/herb garden) and what i should use in place of the pre seeded plugs they provide for growing herbs(basil, ect). i used sharp clean shears to take cuttings that were placed in bcuzz nutriants(properly diluted) then dipped them in take root powder. i used the bcuzz as my nutriant for the aerogarden which is basically a top feed hydro system. it claims to be aeroponic but it really has no true misting going on, however the resivouir is a very moist environment none the less. i then made round plugs out of sponge/cellulose and cut a slit into them so they would hold/support the stem(when opened they look like pacman with his mouth open)....i was just experimenting so i had a few stems remain inside the sponge and a few extend into the resivoir(not in the H2O)....its been about 6 days now and no evidence of roots on the cuttings that are in the air/resivouir, i have not taken out the plugs to look at the other cuttings that are hidden inside the plugs but i suspect there not growing roots either. i suppose im gonna have to suck it up and do it the way you suggest i was just trying to use my new toy to bang out some blue cheese clones. thanks for the help!! has anyone used this to successfully clone? i want to try a few ways before i resign myself to growing chive with this thing(which is cool with me!!)

your cloner should work fine, those are a step up from what I use to clone. What temp does it stay inside the reservoir?? Clones need pretty warm rooting environment, if it is cooler the roots will take longer to pop, I have had some clones that popped roots after 3 weeks!! That was before I got the heating pad. Maybe putting a heating pad under your reservoir would make all the difference or a heating device for a fishtank?? If the clones you have in right now are just experimental then open one up and see if you have any roots starting.

The bcuzz rooting should work just fine. I dont know what the plugs are called, just plugs?? lol. If your in nor cal then walking into any hydro shop and asking for cloning plugs will work for you. They have different sizes and shapes depending on what you need. You may also want to switch to gel instead of powder rooting hormone, unless you have a whole bunch of it, the gel is easy and cover the cut part more completely.

sweet thanks OSK .........i just checked the reservoir and its pretty warm so i dont think thats the problem. i think my issue is im using bcuzz growth not bcuzz rooting and i dont think the powder is ideal for my set up as h20 is almost constanly running over the bottom of the exposed cutting....im gonna hit up a shop tommorow and get some goodies and a proper tray ect.......thanks for the help......oh yeah do u think if i switch my h20 with a rooting nutrient at this point it would be too late?? all of the babies are still green and not wilted at all??

so i just went and got a "real" propagation set up.......one trey, 18 babies, root tech gel, clonex rooting solution, humidity dome, heat mat, scalpels, and those soak and plug pucks........ill keep you posted......thanx for the help
