Brown roots

My current crop looks like crap. My last one did also. I use an ebb & flow system,so the first question is about the watering frequency. I set mine for 5 min on every 3 hrs- I cant do less than 5 min with the timer I have, but it takes 3 min to get the water to the correct height. My PPM is 900 or so (trying not to overdo it), my PH is always 6-6.5. The roots dont look healthy at all, even brown on most plants. I never had problems when doing my own clones, but many are available where I live, so I quit cloning. Any help is appreciated.

I DONT KNOW IF YOU KNOW OR NOT BUT YOUR ROOTS CANNOT BE EXPOSED TO LIGHT...THAT WILL TURN THEM BROWN REAL QUICK....JUST TRY KEEPING THEM IN THE DARK....YOU CANT MESS WITH YOUR PLANT AT ALL EXCEPT TO CHANGE WATER AND CHECK pH...AND DONT EVER TOUCH IT FOR ANY REASON....IF I DO HAVE TO TOUCH IT I MAKE SURE TO WASH MY HANDS REAL GOOD TO GET THE GREASE AND SHIT OFF OF THEM...THAT CAN KILL YOUR PLANT
