Closest thing to pot I can grow in an illegal state?

I have been growing for a couple years in California, but I am now in a state where pot is still illegal. So I was thinking of growing something else that is legal until I can move back to CA. Just to keep in practice!

What sort of plants are similar to pot in how they need to be grown for best results? I've heard tomatoes are similar, but was hoping to find something else.

O hell yeah you can have a whole garden of veggies spices you name it. All will help too keeping that thumb green.

tomato plants and jaggies nettles are supposed to be in the same family if that helps

Hops are one of the closest related plant to cannabis, however it is a bine, therefore may not be easy to grow indoors! But what a wonderful plant to grow, make some beer from it! other than that, definately grow a veggie garden man, find some unique heirloom tomatoes (i like cherokee purple) that way you'll still be doing something cool and unique! lots of things to grow and use that you can't get in stores!
