The son of a Lucas County commissioner and another teenage boy were charged with misdemeanor possession of marijuana after a weekend traffic stop by Toledo police.

Joseph Wozniak and his passenger, Nathan Tolar, both 16 and of West Toledo, were taken into custody about 4:45 p.m. Saturday at Bancroft Street and Ottawa Park Drive after police stopped their vehicle for having no front license plate.

Young Wozniak also faces a charge of unruly juvenile and traffic offenses, while his passenger was also accused of underage possession of tobacco. Both youths made comments to police during their arrest and both were eventually released to their fathers, police said.

Police reported that young Wozniak allegedly remarked on the way to the Safety Building that "it's only a $10 bag of weed," and advised the arresting officers that his mother was "the mayor of Lucas County." His mother, Tina Skeldon Wozniak, president of the county board of commissioners, said she and her husband are taking the matter seriously, being stern but supportive, and are working with their son about "the way he would represent himself and represent our family."
