The Central Ohio Drug Enforcement Task Force seized more than 350 marijuana plants after executing a search warrant Thursday. According to a news release from Lt. Paul Cortright, of the task force, officers responded to a residence on the 5800 block of Horns Hill Road on Thursday after receiving complaints about a marijuana grow operation. A search warrant was executed, and a full operation was found with 356 plants and multiple pounds of processed marijuana.

There were two people listed as living at the residence: the homeowner and another individual. The homeowner was not present when the search warrant was executed, Cortright said, and will be questioned at a later time. The two men have not yet been charged; CODE officials are awaiting information from the lab on the total weight of the marijuana to determine what level of charges is necessary in this case, Cortright said.

Cortright said he did not think the men posed any threat at this time and were relatively cooperative with law enforcement. While the raid wasn't the largest one on record, it was a substantial indoor growing operation that had likely been going on for some time, Cortright said.

"There is still a lot of money being made in the growing of marijuana, so with that in mind, I'm sure there are other individuals out there who are running operations of this size in the county," he said. "In this case, I think we're just looking at these two individuals that were residents of the house. We don't think it was part of a larger operation."

Charges likely would be filed against the men Monday, Cortright said. The marijuana plants will remain under lock at the Licking County Sheriff's Office until the case has been adjudicated, at which point the plants will be destroyed at a facility designed to incinerate illegal drugs.
