Dutch Govt Seeks To Close Cannabis 'Grow Shops'

Amsterdam, The Netherlands - Shops selling cannabis seeds and specialist equipment for cultivating marijuana plants face closure under proposed changes to Dutch drugs laws. Justice Minister Ernst Hirsch Ballin told parliament he would amend laws to ban the sale of everything that "facilitates the production of cannabis", news agency ANP reported on Thursday. A majority of lawmakers said in November they supported such a move.

So-called "grow shops" often offer clients full advice on how to grow marijuana at home, an activity illegal in The Netherlands, Christian Democrat lawmakers have said. Soft drugs are officially banned in The Netherlands but under a policy of tolerance, buyers are allowed to have less than five grams of cannabis in their possession.

In recent years the country has sought to shed its "anything goes" image and has tightened laws on drug use and prostitution.

^^^ i was thinking the same thing. cause in my opinion there isnt any other reason they would change their laws. it seems as though they want to fit in with the rest of the world instead of having their own unique individual area. i bet our government made them an offer they couldnt refuse..

my guess it it was a few overly welthy americans that have nothing better to do than to push their ideals on to others by buying their way........ mit Romney is a great example..... and than of course who can forget the shrub.....you would think we could find better use of americas money that useing it to convert peoples beleifs and ideas, mabey put it in to our drownding economy.... use it to bring us back from the brink of depresion (not enough money to reverse it but it would help a little)

I agree with everything being said but be careful and do not hold those movies to be the absolute truth I sign numerous petitions and attend a few rallies yearly. Never forget that this is the USA and the people rule the government , not the reverse In order for the voices of the people to be heard you must get involved.
