Today my brother called and told me he had a problem with his crop. After looking at the plants and talking to him for a bit I decided the most likely cause is over fertilization. I would like to verify this with some of the more experienced growers here. The middle fan leaves are effected. The leaves are crispy and some are even crumbled. below are some examples, both on the plants and off for details of top and bottom side of individual leaves. He may have added bloom nutrients to his already potent veg. mixture. He was using B'Cuzz A, B, Growth, and may have added PK1314 and Bloom to the former.

I am unfamiliar with any of those nutrients, but it looks like nutrient burn and possibly pH fluctuation.

For some reason the soil looks "spongey" to me as well, and improper drainage can lead to fertilizer and salt build-up in the soil which can become toxic to the plant over time. I would discontinue nutrients for the time being and give them a good flush. Also I would check the pH levels and adjust to 6.2-6.5 as needed. Trim all dead brown leaves off, they will not recover and the plant will waste energy attempting to do so.
 
I have to say I think this is classic over-fertilization followed by ph imbalance and lockout. You will have to flush really well and spray with sea tea every 3 days at full strength (or kelp). You can even use diluted big bloom from FF. No new nutes for a week or so after flush, and then a low dose like 9-4-4. You definitely have nitrogen and phosphorous lockout, and probably more.

9-4-4, 18-8-8, 36-16-16 A guru once told me that those are the same strength nutrients in reality. What makes the difference for use is the amount of water you mix them with. A lower number will be mixed with a smaller amount of water. It made sense after I thought about it so I believed him. Someone correct me if he and I are wrong please.:)
