Two districts in the Northern Division are in the top three list of largest marijuana cultivation areas.

The districts of Wainunu in Bua and Tunuloa in Cakaudrove are rated second and third after the province of Navosa for the largest marijuana farms that police have raided over the past few years.

Although no details or breakdown of cases were presented by police at the Bua Provincial Council meeting, the team confirmed to council members that Wainunu topped the province of Bua while Tunuloa topped Cakaudrove.

Tui Wainunu Ratu Orisi Baleitavea said the news of drugs from police was not new and that was why a vanua law had been introduced to combat the social ill.

Ratu Orisi said any villager in his district found with marijuana would be exiled from their village after being dealt with by Fijian warlords.

Ratu Orisi said they uprooted marijuana plants found in the district and cases have been referred to police.

He said villagers found dealing in or cultivating marijuana would be exiled from their villages after a spanking by warlords.

In Tunuloa, Wailevu Village has introduced this vanua law removing any villager found dealing or cultivating marijuana.

Village elders had agreed that any villager found with marijuana would be also exiled from their villages.
