Flower growth on main colas

I’m one week into flowering. Everything going good so far. I definitely have pistils and preflowers appearing at the nodes right under the the main cola. I’m curious about the how the flower or bud to starts to form on these main colas that usually grow leaves. I’ve read about single leaves and more pistils but does it completely change from growing leaves to growing calyxes and pistils?!

The area between the leaves fill with flowers. A short stalk develops on the early ones that more flowers grow from forming a cluster, or bud.
