The hemp processing industry in Manitoba received a major boost at Ag Days.
The federal government announced nearly 5 million dollars in funding for the Farm Genesis Marketing Group at Waskada.
The provincial government is also offering $75,000 in support.
Provincial Ag Minister Stan Struthers says its a chance to capture the value of the crop in southwest Manitoba.
He says the plant will be huge for the local economy.
Farm Genesis Marketing Group will use the money to build a new hemp oil processing and packaging plant in Waskada.
The group consists of 32 local farmers.
