Has anyone used coarse perlite?

Hi,

I think I posted this question in the wrong forum, so I moved it here. I have to transplant my babies into bigger containers. All outdoor growing. I'm mixing my own soil. Anyway, I have to buy a bale of perlite and vermiculite but the perlite is coarse only. Does anyone know if coarse perlite is going to be a problem? Is there a difference between coarse and the fine stuff? I am transplanted all of my babies into 6 gallons tomorrow. Thanks.

You would want finer stuff for clones or seedlings but coarse is desirable for larger plants. Perlite allows for better drainage and aeration of the soil while vermiculite holds water.
