Ok so is that straight peat & perlite or is it a potting soil mix? Peat is inert, there are zero nutrients in peat to sustain a plant, same goes for perlite. If it’s just peat & perlite then it’s still technically soilless and will require bottle feeding nutes. Plain water is not cool, gonna need low dose nutes and cal-mag, ph matters too.

Yup, straight peat and perlite, nothing else. I have been feeding the new nutes I bought following a Coco coir feeding strength.

The last time I gave them the nutes at 650ppm and pH 5.9, following the coco for cannabis chart. I'm not sure if this is right, to treat peat like coco. It's my understanding peat holds more on to water than coco does.

Might need to adopt a feed, feed, feed water strategy but agree peat doesn’t drain as well as coco, but feed to runoff each time

yeah I've been watering to runoff, but it takes so long for the pots to get dry

True that, it does. The only thing I’ve found to help is - after a water session tilt those containers to steep 45 degree angle and leave them propped up overnight. Should make them pee out some water and lower the water table in the soil, works great on plastic containers but prolly not so effective on fabric smart pots.
