There's many people who save on electricity and utilize the sun. Cannabis needs quite a bit of light to produce decent herb - so if you've lets say only got 6 hours of sun to work with you can utilize that and then bring your plant indoors and use artificial lighting to make up for the rest of the light the plant needs. I do it all the time, especially vegging in spring before the equinox. Bugs they pick up outside can be a problem.
